Thirty years of the same good questions. Here are the straight answers. Anything missing, call 718-221-0022 and a person will pick up.
Yes. You need a valid NY learner permit before any behind-the-wheel lesson, and you must bring the original photo permit with you to every lesson and to the 5-hour class. If you don't have one yet, start with the DMV's permit guide and their free practice tests.
It's the DMV's pre-licensing course, required before you can schedule a road test in New York, unless you completed a high school or college driver's ed course (the MV-285 "blue card"). It covers rules of the road, defensive driving, and the things that actually cause crashes. We run it weekly, with a virtual option, for $55 on its own or included in our full packages. Your completion certificate is valid for one year, and it must be valid on the day you schedule your road test.
It's not a problem; it's most of our calendar. We teach teenagers, parents, grandparents, and people who have put it off for twenty years. Nobody gets judged and nobody gets yelled at. The only thing our instructors care about is that you're better when you step out of the car than when you got in.
Choose a package on the Lessons & Pricing page and pay securely through Square. We confirm your lesson times by phone or text the same business day. Your payment reserves your spot. Online self-scheduling is coming soon.
Life happens. Give us at least 24 hours' notice and we'll reschedule you at no charge. Cancellations inside 24 hours carry a $10 fee. Full details are on our Policies page.
No. The price on the site is the price. The only extra charge that exists is the $10 late-cancellation fee, and it's avoidable by giving us a day's notice.
You schedule it directly with the NY DMV once you have your permit and a valid 5-hour certificate (or driver's ed certificate). If you bought a package with a car for the road test, tell us your test date and location as soon as you have it, and we'll handle the rest: our car, our plates, and a warm-up lesson right before your appointment.
We meet you near the test site ahead of your appointment time for a warm-up in the same car you'll test in. You'll run through the moves the examiner looks for, then take the test in a car you already trust. Bring your photo permit, your 5-hour certificate (or confirmation of the online course), and glasses if your permit requires them.
Plenty of good drivers don't, especially in Brooklyn traffic. The DMV lets you retest, and we'll tell you honestly what cost you points and drill exactly that before the next attempt. Targeted sessions like parking-only ($110) exist for precisely this.
A school car with dual controls, meaning the instructor has their own brake pedal. You can't get into trouble faster than they can get you out of it.
The office runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, but lesson times depend on instructor availability and often extend beyond office hours. Tell us what works for you when we confirm your schedule, and we'll do our best to match it.
We're based at 1561 Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy and teach throughout Brooklyn, including the streets and conditions you'll actually face on your test.
Call us. We've heard it before, and we'd rather you ask than worry.
